FLORICULTURE
Overview
The Floriculture contest challenges members to explore the science and art of growing and designing with flowers and plants. As you identify floriculture materials, solve industry-related problems, and create floral designs, you'll strengthen your plant knowledge, creativity, and problem-solving skills. Along the way, you'll gain hands-on experience and prepare for careers in the floriculture and horticulture industries.

Industry Certification Opportunity
Students may choose to earn the Student Certified Florist credential through the Michigan Floral Association. In addition to the regular contest activities, certification candidates complete a vase arrangement practicum. To earn certification, students must score at least 80% on the general knowledge exam, 80% on the identification exam, and maintain an average score of 80% or higher across all three floral design practicums. Candidates must also complete at least 20 hours of work experience in the floral industry, submit a work experience report at the contest, and pay the additional certification fee.
