AFNR EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIPS
Overview
The AFNR Education Scholarships support students who are pursuing a career as an agriculture, food, and natural resources (AFNR) educator. Multiple scholarships are available for both incoming and current Michigan State University students who have demonstrated academic achievement, FFA involvement, agricultural experience, and a commitment to teaching. These scholarships help support the next generation of AFNR educators and FFA advisors in Michigan.
Scholarship Opportunities
One application provides the opportunity to be considered for four AFNR Education Scholarships. Explore each scholarship below to determine which opportunities you may be eligible for.

Eligibility Requirements
Determine which scholarship(s) you are eligible to apply for. Applicants may qualify for more than one scholarship based on their academic standing, residency, and background.
Glassbrook Freshman & Michigan FFA Scholarship
- Incoming full-time freshman at Michigan State University
- Enrolled in the MSU AFNRE Program
- Michigan high school graduate
- High school GPA of 3.0 or higher
- Former active FFA member
- Experience in AFNR (production, industry, or business)
- Committed to teaching agriscience education
Glassbrook Upperclass & Michigan FFA Scholarship
- Completed two years of postsecondary education
- Upcoming sophomore through intern status
- Enrolled in or transferring to the MSU AFNRE Program
- College GPA of 3.0 or higher
- Michigan high school graduate
- Former active FFA member
- Experience in AFNR (production, industry, or business)
- Committed to teaching agriscience education
O. Donald & Martha Meaders Scholarship
- Completed two years of postsecondary education
- Sophomore through intern status
- Enrolled in or transferring to the MSU AFNRE Program
- Michigan resident
- Experience in AFNR (production, industry, or business)
- Committed to teaching agriscience education
Barry Fike Young Farmers Scholarship
- Enrolled in or transferring to the MSU AFNRE Program
- Michigan resident
- Graduate of a qualifying Michigan high school
- Minimum 3.0 GPA
- Former active FFA member
- Experience in AFNR (production, industry, or business)
- Committed to teaching agriscience education
Applicants should review the scholarship application for complete eligibility requirements.
Application Requirements
Applicants must submit the following materials:
- Completed AFNR Education Scholarship Application
- Two letters of recommendation from non-MSU AFNRE team members
- Transcript(s) of academic work completed beyond high school (not required for currently enrolled MSU students)
- Essay (maximum two pages) explaining Why I Want to Teach Agriscience Education
