Meet Michigan's Own
Lilly Nyland, National FFA Secretary
As a high school junior, Lilly was unsure what direction she wanted to take. Encouraged by a friend, she enrolled in the agriculture and animal science program at Careerline Tech Center, where she discovered agricultural education, FFA, and a community in which she found her place.
Through her Supervised Agricultural Experience at GDW Farms, Lilly developed a passion for agriculture and authentic leadership. Her journey reflects how one opportunity, one encouraging voice, and the courage to say yes can open doors you never imagined.
PREPARING TO RUN
Serving as a National FFA Officer begins long before the selection process. Preparing to run means learning about the role, intentionally growing as a leader, developing a growth mindset, and understanding both the Michigan and National selection processes. Every individual interested in becoming Michigan's National FFA Officer Candidate must attend the mandatory National Officer Candidate Interest Session.
Hosted by Michigan's Past National FFA Officers, this virtual session introduces the National Officer experience, explains Michigan's candidate selection process, and provides an overview of the preparation, commitment, and expectations involved in pursuing national office.

Can't Attend?
If you are interested in running for National FFA Office but cannot attend the scheduled Interest Session, please contact Michigan FFA State Staff as soon as possible. Alternate arrangements must be made prior to the Interest Session.
